Claudio Gabriel Sanna is a singer, researcher and composer form Alghero (Sardinia). In 1981 he founded the Sardinian band "Càlic", historical band of Sardo-Catalan music. With this project he published 4 albums and perfomed at several international festivals.
The group Claudio Sanna and Rall Trio was born from the collaboration between the singer from L’Alguer (Sardinia) and two Catalan musicians, Andreu Ubach and Josep Maria Cols. The repertoire is formed by old ballads and new songs in Catalan from l’Alguer, the only city in Italy where Catalan language is spoken.
Claudio Gabriel Sanna’s music is indissociable from l’Alguer and, as the city, is extraordinary and original, popular but refined, a hybrid mix between Sardinian, Italian, Arabian and Catalan culture, enriched with all the different influences that a sea-side city can receive.
A new record for 2008, Terrer Meu, where the author leaves for a while his traditional work of recuperation and recreation that usually did with his band Càlic, and shows his new songs.
He presents us his Terrer, in all its senses: about the musical and cultural territories form the land where he was born, L’Alguer, about Sardinia, and his people. Everything through little stories from characters, common people and thoughts of the Catalan people in Italy.
He talks about everyday life’s portions, current troubles and events, in a huge variety of themes that, in a very ironic way, face up arguments as the search of a house, with L’esfractat, or the necessity of express an homosexual love in Viola, or the improbable travel of a Catalan never happy in Aió… però!, the life of a Mister that decided to stay at home to clean it up in the song L’home de
casa, or the success of the low cost Airlines and it’s influence in our culture and common habits in Santa mare llengua.
