Névoa is in love. Her great love is fado. And, when she opens her mouth, fados inside her come out, flying as butterflies do, as swallows, as fairies…
At the beginnig of 2008, Névoa (Núria Piferrer) published a new record entitled “Entre les pedres i els peixos” registered in Lisbon at the Gravisom studio, edited by Temps Record and distributed by Harmonia Mundi.
This latest work by Névoa fuses fados and poetry. The record is a sellection of traditional Portuguese melodies of Lisbon’s Fado with lyrics by catalan poets as Enric Casasses, Feliu Formosa, Josep Maria de Sagarra o Pablo Neruda...
Traditional fado consists in about one hundred fifty melodies, classified by genres: fados meia-noite, dos sentidos, fado tango, pintadinho, fado triplicado, bailado, fado menor do porto... Each one can be sung with any lyrics that fit in, can be performed in almost every keys and different speeds.
Taking this creative premise as a starting point, in Potuguese it’s said that fado do not be, but “acontece” (happens).
Névoa has chosen this process, in order to choose, write or order lyrics in catalan, her own language, so that fado besides " acontecer", it also happens.
